Cute pregnancy clothes you can wear when you’re no longer pregnant

Striped Pregnancy Dress

The perfect pregnancy dress – one you can wear during and after pregnancy!

When I was pregnant, it felt like an insurmountable task to find pregnancy clothes that were both stylish and not exhorbitantly expensive in Australia. We all recognise the fact that we’re only pregnant for nine months and that we don’t really want to go spending oodles of money on clothes that we can’t wear afterwards.

However, maternity clothing has improved vastly over the last few years and there is now no need to compromise your style, no matter how unique it is when you are pregnant. Thanks to jersey fabrics especially, many maternity styles can be worn both during and after pregnancy. They allow clothes to stretch to accommodate a big beautiful bump and then return to shape so that you can wear them while breastfeeding or for even longer.

Other styles such as this chic, best-selling shirt dress has a belt that can be worn under the bump while pregnant and then around the waist post-maternity. It’s subtle A-line shape allows room for your bump whilst ensuring that it doesn’t look like maternity wear when you’re no longer pregnant. Something else to consider to make your pregnancy dollars go further besides it’s long-term wearability is whether you can breastfeed from your piece of maternity clothing. Breastfeeding clothing is often the same cost as pregnancy clothes so the last thing you want is to be doubling up on your wardrobe costs again. The Eve of Eden nursing range is designed to be worn during pregnancy and nursing post-pregnancy. It’s really worth keeping in mind as you can often be wearing nursing wear longer than you would your maternity wear!

Top tips for finding these clothes:

1) Find fitted or semi-fitted jersey clothing- T-shirt dresses are a great, stylish & casual option. Clothes which have a 5% or more amount of spandex are ideal

2) Shirt dresses often have the ideal cut that doesn’t especially look like maternity wear

3) Jeans with cleverly disguised side panels don’t look like Maternity jeans and are often ideal when you are in the middle of getting back to your pre-pregnancy shape

4) Check if the piece of maternity clothing has easy breastfeeding access e.g. press studs or an overlap under the bust

5) Loose flowing dresses such as this one look cute and stylish whether you’re pregnant, nursing or neither!

Soft-soled Baby Shoes In Luxuriously Soft Leather

It’s always so exciting to see your baby reach milestones in their young lives. I will always remember how exciting it was to see my first daughter Amber start to stand in the ‘hero’ pose. Amber was relatively early in learning to stand and then to walk – around 10 months (which doesn’t make her any more clever than other babies who learn to walk later. Everyone reaches different milestones at different times and that’s the great thing about humans – we’re all different).

However we did help Amber a bit by not constricting her to hard-soled shoes as she was learning to stand and walk. She was either in bare feet or had soft-soled leather shoes on when we took out of the house to a playground. I believe she got her sense of balance early by learning to feel the ground with her whole sole and adjust her weight as necessary. If she’d been in hard-soled shoes, she wouldn’t have been quite so sure where she need to put more weight to stay upright.

I’m a big fan of our Charli Bear leather shoes. Firstly, for babies they are a godsend as the designs make them harder to pull off than socks! If you have a newborn in Autumn and are trying to keep their feet warm over winter, it’s truly frustrating when you have to put their socks on again and again. Charli Bear shoes have elasticised backs which helps the shoes to stay on.

When you have a toddler, the soft leather (and it truly is the softest leather available) allows your toddler to feel the ground almost as if they weren’t wearing anything on their feet at all. These shoes are often called pre-walkers as they are perfect for this stage of your baby/toddlers life. There is ample room in the front section to allow little toes to spread out. Added features included non-slip pads on the soles and cotton lining.

The designs are awfully cute – mini sneakers, mini ballet flats or mary janes. I have to admit to enjoying dressing up my kids in cute clothes and shoes! We’ve got a fantastic range of last season’s Charli Bear shoes in baby and toddler sizes on sale at amazing prices. Some sizes have already sold out so hop online now so you don’t miss out! They also make a fantastic gift for a newborn baby.
